Houston Credit Repair Expert Vanessa Perry explains why Pet Insurance can be a waste of money in the latest episode of Ask Impeccable.
Is Pet Insurance Worth It?
Many times people will pay monthly towards pet insurance in case their pet gets injured or ill. We often prepare and rely on that insurance to pay for catastrophic events. In the event of an emergency and the insurance is unable to cover it then what is the point? From personal experience using many pet insurance companies they all cover the small stuff. When it comes to cancer, surgery, and scopes that is when you NEED the pet insurance.
What is an alternative?
Rather than paying $100 a month for pet insurance consider putting that money in a separate bank account in case of emergencies for your furry friend. Also you may want to consider applying for a Care Credit card that you can use in case of emergencies. Some vets do accept care credit but most emergency vets do have the care credit option or their own financing option. Typically it takes a higher credit score to qualify but it is worth it in the long run. The interest rates are high but it is 0% for the first 6 months when it is over a certain amount so it is manageable. If you cannot qualify I️ would suggest contacting a credit repair expert to save money and prepare for when you need it.
