Houston Credit Repair expert, Vanessa Perry explains the difference between credit scores and credit report in the latest episode of Ask Impeccable.
What Is The Difference?
The difference between a credit report and a credit score is that the score is listed on the report. A credit report contains a detailed history of your credit and includes any positive or negative accounts. A credit report also lists personal information. Credit scores are derived from the three credit bureaus, TransUnion, Equifax and Experian. They are typically three different scores that are formed based off accounts and credit history.
Where Do I️ Find An Accurate Credit Score?
To find an accurate credit scores make sure to pull a tri-merge credit report. Any credit card or loan application will give a single credit score which is accurate as well. Other scores are configured from third party scoring systems that are NOT accurate. CreditKarma, Bank App Scores, even Experian.com are third party scoring systems. Be aware a real credit score will be on a real credit report. Tri-merge credit reports do cost money from the company that pulls the report. Pulling credit is a “pull” which is negative two points. People are not allowed to profit from a credit report. For example, the typical price to pull is $20-$40 based on volume of the company.
