10 Things to Before Buying a Car
1. Pay your bills on time
Make sure you have your bills paid on time in order to have a strong credit score.
2. No big purchases before buying a car
Do not buy a house, new furniture, or open new credit cards around this time.
3. Credit Karma or online credit checks are not accurate
Third-party site are and never will be accurate. They can be anywhere from 20-200 points off.
4. Do not co-sign for anyone
You are responsible for the payment if you co-sign.
5. Establish a relationship with a credit union
Credit Unions have low rates.
6. Try to pay down your current car
The less negative equity the lower the payment.
7. No 30 Days Late
A 30 day late can be negative 40-45 points against your credit score.
8. Do not pull your credit all over before getting your car
Inquiries are negative 2 points EACH.
9. Have your deal ready for when you decide to buy
Do not waste your time or the dealerships. Know what you want.
